Youth Addictions Stabilization Unit
On December 17th at 10:19AM police located and arrested a 15-year-old male youth at a local high school on the strength of a YASU (Youth Addictions Stabilization Unit) warrant. He was transported by Brandon Police Service (BPS) to Winnipeg.
On December 17th at 5:30PM police arrested a 17-year-old female youth from her home in the 800 block of 11th Street on the strength of a YASU Warrant. She was held in BPS detention cells briefly then transported to Winnipeg to the YASU.
Stolen Vehicle Recovered
On December 17th a stolen 2003 Black Ford Explorer was located at 20th Street and Aster. The vehicle was towed for further investigation.
Assault / Assault with a Weapon
On December 11th police were called to a Brandon high school due to a fight that took place. A 16-year-old female youth had allegedly thrown another 16-year-old female down to the ground and proceeded to punch and hit the youth with a book. The incident was captured on video and reviewed. On December 17th the accused was charged and released on an Undertaking with a court date of February 25th, 2025.
Impaired Driving
On December 17th at 7:46PM police received a call of a motor vehicle accident outside of a restaurant in the 1500 block of 18th Street. One vehicle struck another vehicle and information was exchanged. While the owner of the vehicle struck was on the phone to police, the other party (possibly deemed intoxicated) drove off. Police attended the address of the 28-year-old male and samples of 180mgs% and 170mgs% were obtained. Male charged and released later to a family member on an Appearance Notice with a court date of December 23rd, 2024. Vehicle and drivers license seized.
Breach of Peace
On December 17th at 10:15PM police were called to a disturbance in the 700 block of Princess Avenue. Police a highly intoxicated 53-year-old female was causing a disturbance and refusing to leave after being asked to do so. She was arrested, held in detention cells and will be released once sober.
Theft Under $5000
On December 15th, police received a report of a TV theft (valued at $285) from a store in the 900 block of 18th Street North (Corral Centre). Video surveillance assisted in identifying the 57-year-old male. On December 17th he was located and arrested at his residence in the 200 block of 15th Street. He was later released on an Undertaking with a court date of February 27th, 2025.
Domestic Assault
On December 17th just after 11:00PM police received two separate calls reporting a disturbance on Garwood Drive. Police attended and arrested a highly intoxicated 52-year-old male who had allegedly punched his girlfriend, a 40-year-old female, in the face 5-6 times. The male was held in BPS detention cells and will be released on an Undertaking once sober. Court date has been set for February 24th, 2025.
