On January 18, 2025, at 2:05 am, Dauphin RCMP officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle which had stopped at a business located on Main Street in Dauphin.
The driver refused to comply with the officer and fled from the parking lot, striking the officer with her vehicle. The officer suffered a minor injury.
The vehicle then fled south on Main Street where it made a left hand turn onto a side street. The driver then lost control of the vehicle and hit a snowbank.
Officers approached the driver, who refused to exit the vehicle, and placed her under arrest. As her window was open, officers were able to open the door and take the driver into custody.
The 40-year-old female, from Dauphin, was arrested for Impaired Driving and brought to the Dauphin Detachment where she provided samples of her breath which were found to be over twice the legal limit.
The accused was later released from police custody for a court appearance scheduled for March 27, 2025, in Dauphin, where she will face charges including Assault on a Police Officer, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Flight from Police and Operation while Impaired.
Dauphin RCMP continue to investigate.
