-Donald Trump’s tariffs will be implemented next week. The U-S president said Monday the 25% levy on all Canadian imports, which had been delayed until March 4th, is going forward on time. Canada says it’ll hit back with retaliatory tariffs on billions of dollars worth of American goods.
-The four Liberal leadership contenders will square-off in the English-language debate tonight. They played it safe last night in the French debate – none attacked Mark Carney despite his perceived lead. Liberal party members will start casting advance votes on Wednesday.
-Brandon police arrested a 37-year-old man on Sunday for allegedly punching a staff member at a business on the corner of Pacific Avenue and 10th Street. He was charged with assault, causing a disturbance and consuming liquor in public.
-If you ordered a new plastic health card, it’ll be in your mailbox within the next few days. Over 200,000 Manitobans applied for the new card that’ll replace the old paper one. Anyone applying for their first health card will automatically get the plastic version.
-Installation of Brandon’s first disc golf course is to begin this spring at Canada Games Park. The project, which received donations from the Westoba Inspire Program, local businesses and individuals, is to be completed by the summer.
