Construction on a new roundabout at the intersection of 1st Street and Maryland Avenue is set to begin next week.
The City of Brandon says the intersection will be closed all next week during spring break to facilitate underground utility installations as part of the project. Traffic detours will be in place during this time.
-Construction will continue throughout the summer months, with completion expected by the fall of 2025.
-The first phase of construction will be focused on the east side of the roundabout, until the school summer break begins. Traffic flow through the intersection will be maintained during the first phase, delays to motorists can be expected during peak school hours.
The intersection will be fully closed to traffic from June 30th to September 1st to allow for completion of the project.
