The provincial government is investing $2.7 million in infrastructure projects in the Parkland region through the Manitoba Growth, Renewal and Opportunities (Manitoba GRO) program, Municipal and Northern Relations Minister Glen Simard announced today.
“This program was launched to help Manitoba municipalities advance critical infrastructure projects that will support growth and sustainability in their communities,” said Simard. “These projects will allow local governments to upgrade the critical infrastructure that will promote economic development and serve Parkland residents well into the future.”
The successful Parkland region recipients are:
- Rural Municipality of Yellowhead (bridges/culverts): Shoal Lake water infrastructure replacement initiative – $2,185,863.
- Municipality of Roblin (solid waste management): waste disposal cell and leachate evaporation pond construction – $468,452.62.
- Municipality of Swan Valley West (solid waste management): Benito Landfill environment upgrading proposal – $90,000.
- Municipality of Minitonas-Bowsman (bridges/culverts): Beals Ford Crossing preliminary engineering design and environmental assessment – $50,000.
“I am excited at the news that the province is advancing funds towards our infrastructure project at the south end of our lake,” said Mayor Merv Starzyk, Municipality of Yellowhead. “The funding is greatly appreciated and now council will move forward with final design and review avenues to source matching funds. Once completed, the project that has been planned for many years would see reality.”
The province launched the Manitoba GRO program in October of 2024.
