Only two of the three candidates running in the Brandon-Souris riding are expected to attend Wednesday’s debate at Brandon University (BU). The Brandon Sun reports Liberal Ghazanfar Ali Tarar will remain in Winnipeg where his wife had an emergency medical procedure, and won’t be able to travel to Brandon. The debate will go ahead with Conservative Grant Jackson and New Democrat Quentin Robinson. The debate will be held at BU’s Evans Theatre from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm, and will also be live-streamed by Westman Communications Group.

Brandon University has received a $50,000 donation from the family of its astronomy professor Austin Gulliver. The money will pay for a weather-proof, computer-controlled dome to protect the rooftop observatory’s telescope. The facility has also been renamed the Gulliver Astronomical Observatory.
