-The Winnipeg Jets can eliminate the Blues with a win tonight in St. Louis. However, forward Mark Scheifele will not be in the lineup. He was injured Wednesday after taking two punishing bodychecks.
-Last night in the NHL – the Toronto Maple Leafs, Edmonton Oilers, and Vegas Golden Knights all advanced to the second round. The Leafs beat the Ottawa Senators 4-2, the Oilers topped the L-A Kings 6-4 – and the Golden Knights downed the Minnesota Wild 3-2. In the other game – the Avalanche beat the Stars 7-4 to send their series to a deciding Game 7.
-Winnipeg Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck is a finalist for the NHL’s most valuable player. He’s the first player in Jets’ franchise history to be voted as a Hart Trophy finalist. Edmonton’s Leon Draisaitl and Tampa Bay’s Nikita Kucherov are the other two finalists.
-The Winnipeg Blue Bombers will be touring Manitoba starting this weekend. The Grey Cup tour is promoting the 112th Championship game to be held in Winnipeg November 16th. It’ll make 40 stops through October, and will feature games, interactive challenges and giveaways. The Manitoba government is providing $5.5 million to help the Bombers host the game and related events.
-The Toronto Blue Jays beat the Boston Red Sox 4-2.
