A 33-year-old man faces charges including aggravated assault and assault with a weapon following an arrest by Dauphin RCMP.
According to a release, officers were called to a possible assault at an address on Edgar Avenue on June 20 at about 10:30 PM. When they arrived, a homeowner told them a woman with a child had come to his house asking for help. In the release, police describe the woman as “visibly injured” and said EMS treated her and assessed the child.
“The initial investigation determined that the female was assaulted at a nearby residence and that three children under the age of 14 were also in the home at the time of the assault,” reads the release. “All of the children managed to flee the residence. One of the children sustained a minor injury during the incident; the other two children were not physically harmed.”
Police arrested a suspect, who they said is known to the victim, at the house where the assault is alleged to have occurred. They charged an unnamed 33-year-old man with Aggravated Assault, Assault with a Weapon x2, and Assault.
Dauphin RCMP continue to investigate.
