A 30-year-old man from Winnipeg faces a charge of aggravated assault after what RCMP are calling a “serious aggravated assault” in Langruth over the weekend.
According to RCMP, they received a call of a stabbing on July 20 at about 11:00 PM. Portage la Prairie RCMP and Manitoba First Nations Police Service (MFNPS) in Sandy Bay responded and found a man at a home on Broadway Avenue in Langruth suffering from life threatening injuries.
Emergency Medical Services helped the victim, a 36-year-old from Sandy Bay First Nation. STARS Air Ambulance took the victim to hospital in Winnipeg, where he has since been upgraded to stable condition.
Police said MFNPS officers held the suspect at the scene and Portage RCMP arrested him without incident. They charged the 30-year-old suspect with aggravated assault.
Portage la Prairie RCMP along with Forensic Investigative Services continue to investigate.
