According to a media release, Island Lake RCMP received a report of a plane crash on September 13, 2025, at 6:45 pm that occurred approximately 40 kilometres south of St. Theresa Point First Nation, near Makepeace Lake. The flight originated in St. Theresa Point First Nation and was destined for Makepeace Lake.
Island Lake RCMP were provided the coordinates of the downed aircraft and chartered a helicopter to attend the scene. Search and Rescue personnel from CFB Trenton were contacted and deployed an aircraft where two Search and Rescue Technicians were dropped on site to provide medical assistance.
Once on scene, RCMP were able to confirm that the pilot, a 20-year-old male, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. His four passengers, two males (53, 49) and two females, both 50-years-of age, all from St. Theresa Point First Nation, were pronounced deceased on scene.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has been notified and have deployed to the site.
Island Lake RCMP continue to investigate.
