-The Edmonton Oilers got by the Winnipeg Jets 3-2 in NHL pre-season action on Tuesday. The game saw the debut of three-time Stanley Cup champion Jonathon Toews in a Jets’ uniform. Next action for Winnipeg is Friday when they visit the Oilers.
-The Boston Red Sox beat the Toronto Blue Jays 4-1.
-Robot umpires are getting called up to the big leagues next season. Major League Baseball’s competition committee has approved the use of the ‘Automated Ball/Strike System’ in 2026. Human plate umpires will still call balls and strikes, but teams can challenge two calls per game and get additional appeals in extra innings using the new tech.
