In celebration of World Teachers’ Day, the Manitoba government is proud to launch nominations for the 2025-26 Excellence in Education Awards, recognizing the outstanding contributions of educators across the province.
Education and Early Childhood Learning Minister Tracy Schmidt says “Educators play a vital role in shaping the future of our children and our communities. These awards honour the dedication, creativity and leadership of teachers and school leaders who go above and beyond to help students succeed.”
The Excellence in Education Awards are part of the Manitoba government’s commitment to celebrating the achievements of educators and promoting excellence in the province’s education system. Nominations must be submitted by Dec. 4. Award recipients will be honoured at a ceremony in spring 2026.
This year’s award categories include:
- teaching excellence award;
- outstanding new teacher award;
- outstanding team collaboration award;
- outstanding school leader award; and
- premier’s award for excellence in education.
The premier’s award is selected from nominees across the other four categories. Recipients are recognized for their exceptional contributions, which have a remarkable and wide-reaching impact on both students and the broader school community.
Nominees must hold a valid, permanent Manitoba teaching certificate and work directly with kindergarten to Grade 12 students in a school setting. School leaders must be principals or vice-principals. Nominations may be submitted by parents or legal guardians, students, school trustees, fellow teachers, and school or school division administrators.
