A 15-year-old youth faces charges including pointing a firearm and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose after a firearms incident at a school on Ebb and Flow First Nation yesterday morning.
According to police, Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP got the call at about 11:00 AM on October 7. When they arrived, they were told a faculty member had reported a male youth, who was not a student at the school, had pointed a firearm at another student and then left the school grounds. While no one was injured in the incident, police said the school went into lockdown as a security measure.
“Police were directed to the residence where it was believed the suspect came from,” reads the release from RCMP. “When they arrived, the homeowner advised that the suspect did attend the school and had returned but had since left again. Police seized an air soft gun that was believed to be used in the incident.”
A short time later the suspect turned himself in at the Ste. Rose du Lac detachment. He is charged with uttering threats against a person, pointing a firearm, uttering threats to property, and possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes x2.
RCMP continue to investigate.
