On November 3, 2025, at approximately 4:00 am, a Manitoba First Nation Police Service (MFNPS) vehicle with its emergency equipment activated, attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a stolen vehicle on Lake Road in Sandy Bay First Nation.
The vehicle did not stop for officers and continued to travel at a high rate of speed southbound on Lake Road. During the pursuit, a suspect in the stolen vehicle discharged a firearm towards MFNPS officers.
The suspects left the area, and at approximately 7:30 am, MFNPS requested assistance from Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP officers who immediately began to patrol for the stolen vehicle and suspects.
Additional police officers from the Manitoba Integrated Violent Offenders Unit (MIVOU), RCMP Police Dog Services (PDS), and the RCMP’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) were also engaged in the search.
At approximately 2:00 pm, the stolen vehicle was spotted driving northbound on Provincial Road 278 by Reedy Creek. The suspects continually tried to evade police, and a spike belt was deployed disabling one of the stolen vehicle’s tires. Despite the flat tire, the vehicle continued to travel south towards Silver Ridge.
RCMP ERT and PDS closely tracked the vehicle and were able to stop and arrest all three of the occupants, one male driver, and two female passengers. A loaded firearm was located inside the vehicle.
Provincial Road 278 was temporarily blocked during this incident to northbound traffic by RCMP and MFNPS to limit risk to the public and police.
