The province blames severe wildfires, extreme dry weather, and low water levels for Manitoba hydro. The NDP says it still aims to balance the budget before the 2027 election.

-Grocery prices have jumped the highest amount in nearly two years, at 4.7 per cent, according to Stats Canada. This is despite Canada’s inflation rate remaining at 2.2 per cent, and Manitoba’s rate at 3.3 per cent. Officials say a tariffs, supply shortages and bad weather are to blame.

-Manitoba urologist, Dr. Dave Maharajh (Ma-Ha-Ra-Juh) is opening up a medical clinic in Carberry, using advanced technologies. His clinic is for advanced prostate cancer screenings, and will use robotics and AI-assisted technology for safer biopsies. It will open in mid-January.

-The Manitoba Government is spending $1.2 million dollars to replace the Ice plant at Grandview Agricultural Community Centre. The Agriculture Minister says the plant is in urgent need of replacement, and that funding will cover a large part of the cost. The announcement was made Monday.

-Brandon City Council have approved a new roadside memorial policy for victims of fatal crashes. The city will put up bronze plaques near the crash site to commemorate victims, and replace temporary memorials. The policy was unanimously passed on Monday.

-Brandon-Westman Christmas Cheer has reached its fundraising goal of $90 thousand dollars this season. The organization will deliver over 1,700 hampers full of food and gifts on Wednesday to families across the Brandon area. They praised the generosity of the community Monday on Facebook.

-Canada Post says Santa will reply to letters this year, after last years postage strikes disrupted deliveries. Over 1 million letters are sent to Santa each year. All letters sent to the postal code HOH OHO by December 8th are guaranteed to be delivered.
