No one was hurt, but a house on 16th Street sustained smoke damage from morning fire on Wednesday. The Brandon Sun says Fire crews were sent to a multi-unit residence on the 100-block of 16th Street at 7:40 a.m. after someone called 911 and reported the fire, Firefighters had the blaze fully extinguished by 8:15 a.m., The investigation continues.

Canadians looking to book flights in the coming weeks and months could see a noticeable spike in airfare, as the war in I-ran propels the price of jet fuel. Aviation experts are estimating international flights could increase by $100 to $200 one way, if jet fuel prices remain high. West Jet said fuel is the largest input cost for an airline; and the abrupt increase in jet fuel costs has already made operating flights more expensive. Porter Airlines, and Air Canada say it’s too early to forecast how ticket prices may be impacted.

Dozens of residents in Brandon’s south end woke up to slashed tires; and vandalized vehicles Wednesday morning. The Brandon Sun says Police received more than 75 reports as of 5 p.m. Wednesday, and more were coming in. Streets hit include: Sycamore Drive, Pine Ridge Crescent, Hawthorn Crescent, Magnolia Drive and residents of The Groves. No one has been arrested; but Police do have footage from surveillance and doorbell cameras.
