PrairieCon is officially gearing up for its 45th year, and organizers have opened badge sales as Brandon’s longest‑running gaming convention prepares to take over the Keystone Centre this spring.
The three‑day event runs May 22nd to 24th and is expected to draw hundreds of tabletop gamers from across Manitoba and beyond. PrairieCon has grown into one of the province’s signature fan‑driven conventions, offering everything from classic board games and role‑playing adventures to miniatures, tournaments, and learn‑to‑play sessions for newcomers.
Organizers say this year’s lineup will feature dozens of scheduled games, special events, and open gaming spaces where attendees can drop in and play throughout the weekend. PrairieCon is also known for its welcoming atmosphere, drawing families, first‑timers, and long‑time players who return each year to reconnect with the local gaming community.
Badges give attendees access to the full weekend of programming, with additional sign‑ups available for specific games and tournaments as the schedule rolls out. Volunteers and game masters are also being recruited, with perks available for those who help run sessions.
PrairieCon has been a staple of Brandon’s spring calendar since 1978, making it one of the longest‑running tabletop conventions in Canada. Organizers say the event continues to grow thanks to strong community support and a renewed interest in in‑person gaming.
