Brandon Wheat Kings goaltender Filip Ruzicka has been named one of the finalists for the WHL’s Del Wilson Memorial Trophy, awarded annually to the league’s top goalie. Ruzicka won 26 games and posted a .906 save percentage in his rookie season, while also starting all four playoff games for the Wheat Kings and posting a 2.47 GAA and a .947 save percentage.
The Winnipeg Jets are not quite in must-win territory yet but they’re about as close as it gets as they face the St. Louis Blues tonight at 7:00 Central Time. The Jets need a little help on the out of town scoreboard as they’ll be watching the Nashville Predators and Utah Mammoth closely as well as the Los Angeles Kings and Vancouver Canucks. The Kings and Predators are immediately ahead of the Jets in the playoff race.
The Masters opens today at Augusta National and Rory McIlroy will try to defend his title from last year. This is the 90th edition of the Masters.
The Toronto Blue Jays will take a day off before starting a three-game set with the Minnesota Twins tomorrow. The Twins themselves are in action today against the Detroit Tigers.
Brian Propp, a member of the Brandon Wheat Kings’ Hall of Fame, has been named to the Top-50 CHL players of the last 50 years list, coming in at number 47. Propp was inducted into the Wheat Kings’ Hall of Fame in 2025.
