The Winnipeg Jets earned two critical points in the Western Conference playoff race with a win over the St. Louis Blues by a 3-2 count. The win all but eliminated the Blues (who sit seven points back of the final playoff spot with four games to go). The Jets received mixed help on the out of town scoreboard, however, and remain three points back of the Los Angeles Kings for the eighth and final playoff spot.
After a day off yesterday, the Toronto Blue Jays face the Minnesota Twins in the first of what will be a three-game series. The first pitch is at 6:07. The last outing for the Jays was a slump-busting 4-3 win over the Dodgers on April 8.
Defending champion Rory McIlroy enters the second day of the Masters at Augusta in a strong position, tied atop the leaderboard with American Sam Burns at -5. The last golfer to win back-to-back Masters was Tiger Woods in 2001 and 2002.
Former Brandon Wheat Kings forward Nicholas Johnson had high praise for both the organization and the city as he moves on from his WHL career. He credits his time in Brandon with earning him a place on Ferris State’s roster for next season (NCAA Division 1) and says he’ll always have fond memories of his time in Brandon and the teammates he spent it with.
