Overland flooding along the Assiniboine River has prompted several temporary closures in the interest of public safety. The City of Brandon has closed the Red Willow Pathway walking bridge, the fat bike trail, and Dinsdale Park until further notice. Rising water levels have created hazardous conditions in these areas, and crews will continue to monitor the situation closely.
Residents and visitors are urged to use extreme caution when spending time near the river. Open waterways can be unpredictable, and fast‑moving water poses significant risks. Families are reminded to keep a close watch on young children and pets, especially in areas where barriers or natural boundaries may be compromised by high water.
The City asks the public to respect all posted signage and avoid restricted zones to ensure everyone’s safety. Updates will be provided as conditions improve and it becomes safe to reopen affected areas.
Thank you for your patience, cooperation, and commitment to staying safe during this period of elevated water levels.
