Brandon residents can expect to see City crews out on the streets this week as the annual water main flushing program begins Wednesday, April 29, 2026.
The routine maintenance program is carried out each year to help maintain water quality throughout the city’s distribution system, ensuring clean, reliable water for homes and businesses. Weather permitting, the city aims to flush the entire system by early November.
Crews will begin in the area between Rosser Avenue and Victoria Avenue, west of 34th Street, including the bays along Rosser. Work in this zone is expected to continue over the next month before moving into additional neighbourhoods across Brandon.
Residents are encouraged to watch for temporary signs placed at both ends of their street in the days leading up to flushing. Once signs are posted, crews will complete work on that street within 72 hours, barring any unforeseen delays. During active flushing, residents may notice brief changes in water pressure or slight discoloration, which is normal and typically resolves quickly after running cold water taps.
The city recommends avoiding laundry during flushing periods and checking for updates regularly.
Residents can stay informed throughout the program by following the City of Brandon’s social media channels, where progress updates and zone changes will be posted as crews move across the community.
