One team took nine shots, another scored nine goals, and both teams get the same result in the series scoreboard from last night’s NHL action. Despite only nine shots for, the Montreal Canadiens won game 7 against the Tampa Bay Lightning 2-1 to advance to the second round. Meanwhile, in game one of their second round series, the Colorado Avalanche hung nine goals on the Minnesota Wild to win game one 9-6. The playoffs continue tonight with Carolina hosting Philadelphia in game two of their series and Vegas and the Anaheim Ducks kicking their series off.
After dropping a 4-3 heartbreaker to split their four-game series with the Minnesota Twins, it’s right back to business for the Toronto Blue Jays tonight. They open up a three-game set with the Tampa Bay Rays at 5:40.
The Western Hockey League final is set after the Prince Albert Raiders downed the Medicine Hat Tigers 7-6 last night to take game six and the series in the Eastern Conference Final. The Raiders will face the Everett Silvertips, who swept the Penticton Vees to get to the finals themselves.
Though they battled to the bitter end, the season is now over for the Toronto Raptors, who fell 114-102 to the Cleveland Cavaliers in game seven of their first-round series. The home team won every game in the series.
