On Friday, May 8, Brandon University will host their second annual Breast Cancer Awareness walk over the noon hour, the University announced.
In a release, BU said their walk is being organized by BU’s Breast Cancer Cell and Molecular Research Lab. Participants will gather in the Kavanagh Courtyard at noon, with breast cancer survivors (Elizabeth Glaseman, Michelle Gerrard, and Marcy Goetz) sharing their lived experiences. There will also be representatives of the Waves of Hope dragon boat team present. The walk is scheduled to wrap up around 1:00 PM.
“We were thrilled with the response we got from our community on short notice last year, and we expect attendance will grow with more awareness,” said Dr. Mousumi Majumder, a cancer researcher and Research Chair in Genotoxicology. “It’s a disease that hits close to home for so many of us, and by working together we can succeed in our goal of saving lives.”
The event is open to the public and participants are encouraged to wear pink to support the cause.
