The Manitoba government has opened nominations for the 2026 Mosaic Awards, an annual celebration recognizing newcomers, immigrants, refugees, and community leaders who help build a more inclusive and connected province. Labour and Immigration Minister Malaya Marcelino says the awards highlight the people and organizations strengthening Manitoba through cultural connection, community leadership, and bridge‑building across backgrounds.
This year’s awards include expanded categories to better reflect the diverse contributions shaping communities across Manitoba. New and returning categories include the Youth Leadership Award, honouring newcomer and immigrant youth aged 14 to 29; the Indigenous Bridge Builder Award, recognizing Indigenous leaders fostering relationships between Indigenous and newcomer communities; the Welcoming Community Champion Award, which highlights individuals and organizations creating inclusive spaces; and the Lifetime Community Builder Award, celebrating elders whose lifelong efforts preserve culture and strengthen belonging.
A total of 12 recipients will be selected, representing both urban and rural leadership across the province. The awards will be presented during Manitoba’s second annual Welcoming Week, running September 13 to 19 — part of an international initiative that celebrates inclusive communities and the contributions of immigrants and refugees.
Marcelino says the Mosaic Awards are an opportunity to shine a light on the people making a real difference in neighbourhoods, workplaces, and community organizations across Manitoba.
Nominations are open until July 15, and can be submitted online 👉here.
