The Brandon Wheat Kings traded back in the first round of the WHL Prospects Draft and still got the player they’d originally wanted, forward Rylan Edwards from the Northern Alberta X-Treme prep team. Edwards was an offensive driver both at NAX and with the Regina Aces of the Saskatchewan U15AA ranks the year before. The Anaheim Ducks earned the always-sought split for a road team, beating the Vegas Golden Knights 3-1 last night to send the series back to Anaheim tied at one. The Buffalo Sabres won their opening game of the series against the Montreal Canadiens 4-2 last night.
Only one game in NHL playoff action this evening as the Carolina Hurricanes look to take a stranglehold on their series with the Philadelphia Flyers. The Colorado Avalanche and Minnesota Wild have an unusually long layover between games and won’t play again until Saturday night.
Speaking of layovers, the Toronto Blue Jays get a brief one to get some rest today. They’ll resume action tomorrow night at 6:07, starting a three-game series with the Los Angeles Angels.
