The City of Brandon has issued new No Parking restrictions for Monday, May 11, as crews continue their annual street sweeping program across residential areas. The temporary parking ban will be in effect on several west‑end streets to ensure sweepers can move through safely and efficiently.
The affected areas include:
• Franklin Street — 200 to 300 block
• Frederick Street — 100 to 400 block
• Percy Street — 200 to 300 block, and 500 to 700 block
Residents are asked to move vehicles before 7 a.m. and follow all posted signage. The city warns that vehicles left in a no‑parking zone during sweeping operations may be ticketed or towed, delaying cleanup and forcing crews to return later at additional cost.
Street sweeping is a key part of Brandon’s spring maintenance program, helping remove sand, debris and dust that accumulate over winter. According to the city, clearing streets early in the season improves drainage, reduces airborne dust and makes neighbourhoods safer for pedestrians and cyclists. Crews rotate through the city on a set schedule, with progress updated regularly on the City of Brandon maintenance page.
Residents are encouraged to watch for signs, keep roadways clear and give sweepers plenty of space to operate. The city says cooperation helps ensure each neighbourhood is completed on time as spring cleanup continues.
