The Montreal Canadiens took a 2-1 series lead on the Buffalo Sabres while retaining home ice advantage with a win last night, while the Anaheim Ducks eked out a 4-3 win over the Vegas Golden Knights to tie their series at two games apiece. Tonight, the lone game sees the Colorado Avalanche try to take a stranglehold on their series with the Minnesota Wild, which they enter leading two games to one.
The Men’s World Hockey Championship will begin this week in Switzerland, and Team Canada will have some WestMan representation. Defenseman Zach Whitecloud of Brandon will represent Canada for the third time in his career. He served as an assistant captain with the Calgary Flames after a trade from the Vegas Golden Knights this past season.
There was no sweep to be had for the Toronto Blue Jays in their three-game series with the Angels this weekend. Though they won the first two games (including an astonishing 14-1 win on Saturday) they fell 6-1 in the series finale last night. They’re back in action this evening against the Tampa Bay Rays.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have wrapped up their rookie camp, cutting seven players, and have started their main camp ahead of the CFL season. They’ve still got some time to iron out the kinks as they don’t begin play until June 5 against Hamilton.
