Names of those involved in Friday’s collision at the intersection of Richmond Avenue and Highway 110 have still not been released, after the incident went unreported in the Brandon Police Service media releases for May 29. Emergency crews responded late Friday afternoon to a two‑vehicle crash involving a truck and a pickup, slowing traffic as first responders assessed the scene and cleared the roadway.
The intersection has been under heightened scrutiny in recent days. Friday’s crash occurred less than a week after a fatal semi‑truck collision at the same location, which led to a Dangerous Driving Causing Death charge against Brijlal Panwar. The back‑to‑back incidents have renewed concerns about safety at the busy junction, which serves as a key connection between Richmond Avenue and Highway 110.
Although new traffic lights have been installed at the intersection, they are not yet operational. According to the Province, the delay is tied to the nearby railway crossing. Additional components are still required to properly synchronize the new signals with the train‑crossing warning system, and those parts have not yet arrived. Officials say the lights cannot be activated until the coordination system is complete.
With few details released about Friday’s collision and the intersection still operating without functioning signals, drivers are being urged to use extra caution as investigations continue.
