Protective Detention and Care of Intoxicated Persons Act
In the past 24 hours four individuals were arrested and held in Brandon Police Service (BPS) detention cells under the PDCIPA. They will be released once sober.
Arrest Warrant + New Charges
On June 22nd at 9:29 p.m., a BPS officer observed a 22-year-old male riding a bicycle who was known to be wanted on an outstanding Warrant (Breach of Undertaking). Police also determined that the man was actively in breach of his court-ordered curfew conditions.
The suspect entered a residence, and when officers attended the home to execute the warrant, he refused to come outside. The homeowner also refused to acknowledge that she knew the male or that he was inside the residence. During a secondary door knock by police, while Feeney Warrant was being requested, a different male answered the door while wearing plastic brass knuckles. The 31-year-old male was arrested and charged with Possession of a Prohibited Weapon.
While officers remained at the residence, a 31-year-old female attended the scene and started causing a disturbance while obstructing police. She was arrested for Breach of the Peace. She was taken to BPS detention cells to be released in the morning.
The original suspect eventually surrendered to officers outside the residence and was taken into custody without further incident. Both men were transported to Brandon Police Service detention cells. They will appear in court on the morning of June 23rd, 2026.
Domestic Assault
Brandon Police Service officers have charged a man in connection with a domestic assault that occurred during the early morning hours of June 20th at an apartment in Alaska Bay. An argument between a 27-year-old female and her 24-year-old ex-boyfriend escalated, resulting in offences against the male including Assault, Assault with a Weapon, Assault by Choking, and Uttering Threats.
On June 22nd, officers were able to locate the suspect at his residence and arrested him without incident. The male was transported to BPS where he was processed. He was later released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on August 31st, 2026.
Breach of Peace
In the last 24 hours three people were arrested for Breach of the Peace. They were arrested and held in BPS detention cells to be released in the morning.
Theft Under $5000
BPS has charged two female youths in connection with a theft that occurred earlier this year at a business in the 3400 block of Victoria Avenue.
On March 9th, police were notified that two female suspects had stolen approximately $120 worth of merchandise from the business. The incident was captured on video surveillance, which assisted investigators in identifying the suspects.
On June 22, a BPS officer located and arrested both individuals. The youths, aged 17 and 15, have each been charged with Theft Under $5,000. Both were later released on Undertakings and are scheduled to appear in court on August 25th, 2026.
