A 23-year-old man from Ebb and Flow First Nation is in custody and a 25-year-old man from Winnipeg was taken to hospital following a shooting on Ebb and Flow First Nation, according to RCMP.
In a release, RCMP said they responded to a report of a man being shot at about 8:05 AM on July 3. The victim had been shot in the abdomen while he was riding a bicycle in the community. He was located near a local business, transported by private vehicle to Ste. Rose du Lac Health Centre and subsequently taken by air ambulance to hospital in Winnipeg for further treatment. RCMP said he is now in stable condition.
After an investigation, officers went to a residence on Central Road in the community, where the suspect was taken into custody.
Joshua Houle, 23, of Ebb and Flow First Nation is charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, careless use of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm when knowing possession is unauthorized, discharging a firearm with intent, and weapons possession contrary to order.
None of the charges against him have been tested in court and he is presumed innocent.
