More than 50 patients evacuated from Dauphin Regional Health Centre arrived at new hospitals within 24 hours of the evacuation being initiated last week, Prairie Mountain Health said in a statement.
According to PMH, 54 patients were evacuated from DRHC last week, including one infant. A further eight patients were able to be discharged to their own homes. The transferred patients have gone to areas in the Prairie Mountain Health region, Southern Health-Sante Sud, Winnipeg Regional Health Authority and Shared Health.
The DRHC and its emergency department remain closed due to what PMH called “significant flooding”. Ste. Rose and Grandview’s emergency departments remain open. In addition, the Dauphin Walk-in Clinic operated by the Dauphin Medical Clinic and located in the Dauphin Clinic Pharmacy is open.
“At this time, there is no confirmed date for the reopening of the DRHC Emergency Department,” said PMH in a statement. “We recognize the impact this has on our community and appreciate your patience as recovery efforts continue. Insurance assessors and restoration teams are working as quickly as possible to complete thorough damage assessments and determine the full scope of repairs required.”
PMH added that maternity and delivery services are available at Brandon and Neepawa Health Centres.
