Manitoba is widening its global reach with new trade representative offices in Europe and Mexico—an expansion the province says will strengthen market access and support long‑term economic resilience.
The move, announced by Business, Mining, Trade and Job Creation Minister Jamie Moses, adds two new international positions focused on helping Manitoba companies break into high‑value markets. Moses said the appointments reflect the province’s commitment to diversifying its trade relationships as global economic conditions continue to shift.
The European representative will concentrate on opportunities in the United Kingdom and western Europe, building on momentum created through the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement. Meanwhile, the Mexico representative will work to meet rising demand for Manitoba products and advance connections formed during the Team Canada Trade Mission to Mexico earlier this year.
These roles follow the province’s recent creation of an India trade representative, forming a trio of regional offices designed to strengthen business‑to‑business ties, identify investment opportunities, and support future trade missions.
Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce CEO Loren Remillard welcomed the announcement, calling it a timely response to global events and a boost for Manitoba companies seeking on‑the‑ground support in key markets.
The initiative aligns with Manitoba’s Economic Development Strategy, released in 2025, which aims to expand the province’s international footprint, reduce reliance on U.S. trade, and build a more competitive and resilient economy.
Manitoba officials say the expanded network of trade representatives will help local businesses uncover new opportunities and navigate emerging markets—an important step toward strengthening the province’s global presence.
