As the provincial government tries to help more Manitobans pick up the pieces after the flooding of the last month, a long list of communities in the WestMan and Parkland regions will be among those to receive expanded assistance from the province.
Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Lisa Naylor, minister responsible for the Emergency Management Organization, announced today that the government is expanding eligibility under the one-time Manitoba Flood Recovery Program (MFRP). An additional 13 communities are now on the expanded list.
“Large areas experienced multiple heavy rainfall events throughout June, resulting in significant flooding, causing extensive damage to homes, farms, businesses and public buildings,” said Naylor. “This expansion ensures that communities are provided with the essential support they need to recover and build mitigation strategies for the future.”
According to a release from the Manitoba government, the province launched three Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA) programs, one for each major flood event, as well as the one-time MFRP, in response to heavy flooding throughout June. The MFRP was created to assist homeowners and tenants in particularly hard-hit areas who may not have qualified for DFA if flood insurance was available for their property.

- Rural Municipality (RM) of Dauphin
- Mossey River Municipality
- Municipality of Ethelbert
- Grandview Municipality
- Municipality of Gilbert Plains
- RM of Lakeshore
- Municipality of Ste. Rose
- Rossburn Municipality
- Municipality of Russell-Binscarth
- RM of Riding Mountain West
- Prairie View Municipality
- Municipality of Boissevain-Morton
