A major tourism project in Boissevain-Morton is getting an infusion of cash from the provincial government in the hopes that it will revitalize an attraction that has been in place since the 1960s.
The province has announced they are providing $100,000 through the From the Ground Up – Safe Healthy Communities for All Program to the Municipality of Boissevain‑Morton to support the final phase of the Boissevain Lions Campground expansion, a major recreation and tourism infrastructure project. This will increase the campground’s overall capacity, according to Municipal and Northern Relations Minister Glen Simard.
“This investment helps Boissevain-Morton complete a project that will benefit residents, visitors and local businesses for years to come,” said Simard. “Expanding the Boissevain Lions Campground supports rural recreation, strengthens tourism and ensures families have access to high-quality outdoor experiences.”
According to a provincial release, the campground is owned and operated by the municipality and has been a cornerstone of local tourism and a key summer attraction since the early 1960s, when it was built in partnership with the Boissevain Lions Club. The campground regularly sees visitors from the United States and other provinces, and the Manitoba government pointed out a recent surge in demand, driven in part by the opening of the adjacent Boissevain‑Morton Aquatic Centre.

The additional serviced sites and improvements to the campground will strengthen one of our community’s longstanding tourism assets and help us meet growing demand. We are grateful for the support of the Manitoba government as we work to complete this project and ensure the campground continues to be a valued part of Boissevain-Morton for years to come.”
The final phase of the expansion project will complete long‑standing infrastructure upgrades and add 12 new fully serviced campsites, each equipped with 50‑amp power, water, sewer, Wi‑Fi, a picnic table, and fire pit. It will also include a new west‑side access point from Anderson Drive, creation of an overflow camping area, and 26 new fire pits on cement pads.
