BRANDON, Man. (September 10, 2026)— Assiniboine College is going back in time, and welcomes you to join, with a free outdoor screening of the 1985 classic Back to the Future, tonight (Thursday September 10) at the college’s North Hill Campus.
The outdoor movie night is part of Assiniboine’s 65th anniversary celebrations, with Vintage Assiniboine events like this being hosted throughout the year.
“We’re looking forward to an evening of fun at the movies and sharing our beautiful North Hill campus with our community,” said Mark Frison, President of Assiniboine College. “Assiniboine has spent the past six and a half decades building connections with students, staff, alumni and communities, and our 65th anniversary events are about celebrating alongside friends new and old.”
In early November 2025, the college kicked off anniversary celebrations with the opening of a historic time capsule. The capsule, which dates back to the opening of the Victoria Avenue East campus, provided a glimpse into the college’s early years serving Manitoba.
The college also marked the 65th anniversary milestone through community events, special giveaways and legacy projects, like the planting of 65 trees at our North Hill campus, and awarding 65 – $1,000 tuition credits to support future students.
Next up for 65th anniversary festivities is the ‘Rewind the Unwinder’ social as well as several sports themed 65th celebration games, alongside a homecoming week.
Community members joining the college on September 10 for an evening of nostalgia, entertainment and celebration are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. There will be plenty of giveaways throughout the event and the ACSA will have a canteen open with movie treats and hot beverages!
