Protective Detention & Care of Intoxicate Persons Act
In the past 24 hours, four individuals from separate incidents were arrested under the Protective Detention and Care of Intoxicated Persons Act (PDCIPA) and brought to Brandon Police Service (BPS) detention cells. They will be released once they are sober and able to care for themselves.
One of the individuals was also facing a charge of Mischief to Property Under $5,000 in relation to an incident that occurred on September 3, 2026. The 34-year-old female was arrested and will be released via Undertaking once sober, with a future court date of November 19th, 2026.
Possession of a Weapon
On September 9th, at 8:01 p.m., police conducted a pedestrian stop after observing a male running across the roadway near the 800 block of Southern Avenue while wearing a balaclava and acting suspiciously. The male was found to be in possession of a machete, contrary to the conditions of his Release Order. He was arrested and brought to BPS detention cells, and is scheduled to appear in court on the morning of September 10th, 2026.
Assault IPV
On September 9th at 8:35 p.m. police came across a male assaulting a female in the 1700 block of Victoria Avenue. The 20-year-old male was arrested and later released via Undertaking with a future court date of November 5th, 2026.
Failure to Comply Court Orders
In the past 24 hours, four individuals were arrested for Failure to Comply with a Court Order. Two were released via Appearance Notices with future court dates. The remaining two were arrested and brought to BPS detention cells, and will appear in court on the morning of September 10th, 2026.
Theft Under $5000
On September 9th, at 7:44 p.m., police received a report that two Amazon packages, valued at $114, had been stolen from the front step of a residence in the 600 block of 14th Street. Doorbell camera footage allowed police to identify the suspect. The 31-year-old female was located in the Town Centre parkade at 3:31 a.m. She was arrested, processed, and later released via Undertaking with a future court date of November 19th, 2026.
Arrest Warrant
On September 9th at 7:16 a.m. a request came in from Winnipeg Police Service to execute one of their Warrants on a male currently held at Brandon Correctional Centre. BPS member attended and executed the Warrant on the 41-year-old male. He remained in custody to attend court that morning.
Theft Under $5000 x2
On September 9th, at 8:22 a.m., police were informed of a theft that had occurred at a business in the 800 block of 1st Street. A male had stolen approximately $35 worth of merchandise, including several packages of beef jerky and an energy drink. A 46-year-old male was identified as the suspect and was located a short time later. Empty beef jerky wrappers were found in his back pocket.
The male was also identified as being responsible for a theft from a business in the 3500 block of Victoria Avenue that occurred on August 8th, 2026. He was arrested and held for court on the morning of September 10th, 2026.
