A 40‑year‑old Steinbach man was killed late Saturday night after a single‑vehicle rollover on Road 21 North in the RM of Hanover. Steinbach RCMP arrived just before midnight, finding the victim lying on the roadway behind a severely damaged vehicle; he was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the lone occupant, and the investigation continues.
The crash adds to Manitoba’s worsening road‑safety picture. The province has now recorded 49 highway fatalities in 2026, a 23% increase from this time last year and well above the five‑year average of 36 deaths.
The rising toll continues to fuel concerns about high‑risk driving and rural road conditions across the province.
