Manitobans are being reminded that they won’t need to turn their clocks back this weekend as the province officially moves to permanent daylight saving time, now known as Manitoba Standard Time.
The change was finalized last month following consultations with residents and marks the end of the twice-yearly clock changes that have been observed for decades.
Provincial officials say work has been underway with organizations and businesses across a variety of sectors, including telecommunications, technology, transportation, health care, agriculture, sports and the arts, to help ensure a smooth transition.
Most modern phones, computers and connected devices are expected to update automatically through operating system and software updates. However, individuals and businesses are encouraged to confirm their systems are up to date and contact service providers if they have concerns about specific devices or applications.
The province is also advising Manitobans to double-check travel schedules and medical appointments during the transition period and allow extra time if needed.
More information, including a full list of frequently asked questions, is available through the province’s time change website.
