Prairie Mountain Health (PMH) has added three new nurse practitioners to the Minor Injury & Illness Clinic in Brandon.
In a news release, PMH said Brianne Frykas, Dawn Lees and Jarret McKinnon joined the organization from the University of Manitoba.
“As health-care needs continue to grow across our region, Nurse Practitioners are an essential part of our care teams,” said Jaime Burgoyne, manager of health services, primary health care.
PMH also added four other nurse practitioners, along with a new community mental health position in Brandon.
“This helps improve access to services and support better health outcomes for individuals, families, and communities throughout Prairie Mountain Health,” said Burgoyne.
According to PMH, 37 nurse practitioners currently serve Western Manitoba.
During a recent provincial media event, PMH also announced it has added 18 net new doctors since 2024. However, recruiting health-care professionals across the large region it serves remains a challenge.
