Brandon, MB (CKLQ) – It was quite the day for Brandon Wheat Kings Captain Tanner Kaspick. The 19-year-old Brandon native was named to Hockey Canada’s 32-man selection camp roster in the morning, and then capped the day off with a three point night helping his team to their 6th straight victory.
Kaspick (2G-1A), Stelio Mattheos (2G-1A), Kale Clague (2A), Linden McCorrister (2A) all had multi-point nights for Brandon who earned their 20th victory of the season in a 7-4 win vs the Regina Pats.
Logan Thompson earned his 3rd straight victory turning aside 37 shots, including 20 in the 3rd period, while Tyler Brown stopped 26 shots in the Regina goal.
Gunnar Wegleitner, Caiden Daley and Ty Lewis all chipped in with singles for the Wheat Kings, who kicked off a five game home stand in front of over 3800 fans at Westman Place.
The win ties the club’s longest winning streak of the season at six, and moves them within one point of the Swift Current Broncos for 2nd in the East Division and five back of the Division leading Moose Jaw Warriors.
Brandon welcomes Medicine Hat and Kelowna to Westman Place this weekend. Both games begin at 7:30.
