The search is expected to resume today (June 15) for a man missing on Lake Winnipeg.
Powerview and Selkirk RCMP responded to a report of an overturned boat, near Belair, on Saturday afternoon.
Police say five people were fishing in a boat when it took on water and capsized. Numerous witnesses could see the boat from shore and called 911. A number of people who were on the water, came to their assistance. Three male occupants of the boat, aged 37, 48 and 65, were rescued from the water and taken to hospital.
A 73-year-old man from Winnipeg was found in the water, taken to shore and was pronounced deceased. A 42-year-old man from Winnipeg is still missing.
Selkirk and Powerview RCMP along with the RCMP Inland Water Transport, and numerous first responders were at scene including; Emergency Medical Services, STARS, Victoria Beach Fire and Rescue, East Beaches Fire Department, the Canadian Coast Guard and CFB Trenton/17 Wing, to assist in the search.
About 50 family members and volunteers scoured the shoreline for the missing man on Sunday.
