I had the chance to get a sneak peek at the Dauphin Countryfest 2021 line up! This is my interview with Rob Waloschok!
TRENT: Right now I have the distinct pleasure this morning of having a chat with Rob Waloschuk. The General manager of Dauphin Countryfest. Rob what do ketchup potato chips, Ryan Reynolds and Countryfest have in common? All Canadian.
ROB: We’re super pumped today, Canada Day, this would have been the first day of opening. We would have opened our gates today, actually right about now, but you know as everybody knows – Covid took over and here we are today working on 2021. We’re pretty pleased.
TRENT: As well you should be. If there’s one thing this lockdown has driven home for us its how much amazing everything there is in our own backyards. We don’t have to travel to find the best in the world and that’s what you’re going to be highlighting in 2021.
ROB: Absolutely. Canadians as a whole deserve a Pat on the back for getting through what we’ve gotten through with all of with all the turmoil in the world going , not just South of us, but all around the world I think Canada needs a big deserving Pat on the back, And our Canadian artists deserve a Pat on the back. Out there pounding all the time doing stuff to raise money from their couches in a lot of cases. I think it’s time that we supported them and Dauphin Countryfest is going to do that in 2021. The best of Canadian country is coming to Dauphin.
TRENT: It’s like if a Beaver tail slapped you across the face and it was covered in poutine. You’re not kidding when you say the best of the best.
ROB: Everything from Emerson Drive to Aaron Pritchett, Charlie major, Jade Eagleson, Jess Moskaluke, Washboard union, Chad Brownlee, Terri Clark, Paul Brandt is going to come back for this special occasion, Madeline Merlo, Allan Doyle and the James Barker band. Dean Brody, Dallas Smith, and the list goes on and on. Sunday now Doc Walker, Jason McCoy, Michelle Wright, George Canyon, Corb Lund, The Hunter brothers and the incomparable Johnny Reid. That’s just to name a few, if you want to go to our website you’ll get the whole works. The message today is support Canada, support Canadian and we’re going to do that next year in 2021.
TRENT: it is absolutely a star studded Canuck lineup around oil by the way. Alan Doyle, I can’t stress enough if you’ve never seen his show. Saturday night I can’t wait, I can’t wait for that.
ROB: Well and not only the magic that’s going to happen on that day when you put acts like Alan Doyle and Dean Brody together and the Reklaws and Dean Brody and Dallas and you know that whole day alone is going to be. Just watch what happens at night.
TRENT: That’s the beauty of Countryfest. The Artists seem to understand some of the walls come down. It’s a little more of a kitchen party already at times.
ROB: So we’re pretty excited, like I said, you know with everything going on in the world and and people wanting to support themselves and support local, support Canadian we thought it’s our turn to do the same. I hope everybody will join us. This is going to be a pretty historic event in this Country.
TRENT: So Grab your best Toque, throw on some flannel a grab a Chesterfield to sit on! We’ll see you at Dauphin country fest 2021! July 1st it all kicks off!
