The YWCA Brandon is making changes to the upcoming ‘Ride-a-Mile Poker Derby’ event, originally schedule to take place Saturday, September 12th.
The YWCA says because the region is under Covid-19 ‘Code Orange’ restrictions, they can no longer host the event at a single location at a single time. Instead, anyone who wants to participate, and support the YWCA Brandon, is to register and take the ride on their own time.
During the week of September 5th – 12th registered riders are asked to take their own ride, and if possible send the YWCA photos of you in each town where stops were planned – Neepawa, Sandy Lake and Russell. You can do this in one day, or take the whole week, whatever works for each rider.
Each hand will still cost $25.00, and the YWCA will draw your hand upon paid registration. It’ll be your complete hand from start to finish. Organizers say non-riders can also take part by paying $25.00 per hand – and then take a car ride to each town and post photos.
Proceeds will support YWCA Meredith Place and the Westman Women’s Shelter.
You can register at https://www.ywcabrandon.ca/ by using the donate option – and once you’ve done that, please call BJ @ 204-901-3580.
