Is checking your phone the new yawning? According to a study, looking at your phone is contagious!
What the study found was if you look at your phone while other people are nearby, almost half will check their phones within 30 seconds.
This makes sense doesn’t it? I was in a waiting room the other day and I just sat down. I looked around and everyone was on their phone. Next thing I know I had my phone in my hand, I didn’t even think about the action I just did it.
The researchers say phone checking is a “Spontaneous Mimicry Response”. Like a contagious yawn, it can cause unconscious imitation.
