“To heck with this perfectly fine sidewalk, I think I’ll walk on the road and pretend I’m a car!” – The Person I passed yesterday on the street, probably.
Seriously, what is with people choosing to walk in a city street as opposed to a perfectly fine sidewalk? Can someone explain this to me? I cannot count the number of times I’ve had to slow down for, or outright avoid, someone who chooses to walk on the side on the road as opposed to the sidewalk – where they’re supposed to! I mean, it’s called sideWALK for a reason, amirite?
Not only that, but I’ve also seen some senior citizens forego the sidewalk and ride their motorized scooters on the street as well! Not only is that unsafe, I’m pretty sure it’s illegal, since I dont think any of those scooters can come anywhere CLOSE to making the speed limit.
If someone could explain why this is, I sure as heck would appreciate it. Until then, for the safety of you and everyone else on the road: if you’re walking, DO IT ON THE SIDEWALK!!!
