The province is reporting two new deaths due to COVID-19, increasing the toll t0 1,081.
They include;
– a man in his teens from the Winnipeg health region; and
– a man in his 50s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the B.1.1.7 variant of concern.
Health officials also announce 250 new cases of the virus, bringing Manitoba’s total to 53,403.
Of the new cases; 16 are in Prairie Mountain health, 18 in the Northern health region, 32 in the Interlake-Eastern health region, 48 in Southern health, and 136 in the Winnipeg health region.
In Prairie Mountain Health, 245 cases remain active, 34 of those are in Brandon, and across the province there are 3,786. There’s also a total of 293 covid patients in hospital, and 97 people in intensive care units, 67 of which are in ICU’s in Manitoba. The current five-day test positivity rate also decreased slight to 11.5 per cent provincially, down from 12 on Tuesday (June 8).
Meanwhile, the total number of variant of concern cases in Manitoba sits at 12,847. Of those, 1,074 have been discovered in Prairie Mountain Health.
