The Canucks made history at Wimbledon and the positive vibes are being felt in our province.
Eugenie Bouchard finished runner-up, and rose to #7 in the world rankings, the highest ever for a Canadian, while Milos Raonic got to the semifinals, and went up three spots to a career-high #6 in the world.
"We have been getting more phone calls, and people asking where are courts to play, where can I get equipment. So we have seen a spike in that from other years. When you see it on TV and see that high level, it kind of motivates and you see the fitness of those people," Tennis Manitoba executive director Mark Arndt told CKLQ’s Tyler Crayston. "It has happened slowly, and I’d imagine the next little that there will be more, and more people playing, especially kids. We definitely want kids to get involved in the game."
Tennis Manitoba has around 34 hundred registered members.
