The Brandon University men’s volleyball team failed to qualify for the CIS championship with a four set loss against the Trinity Western Spartans at the Canada West Final Four on Friday night in Langley, B.C.
Set scores were 25-17, 25-21, 22-25 and 25-19.
Sebastien Steigmeier scored 20 kills and 15 digs in the Bobcats’ semifinal loss, which was the team’s only chance to reach the national tournament next week in Calgary.
"There was times where we played well and controlled the game and then there was times where we made some simple physical or mental mistakes that allowed them to go on runs. It just felt like if we could get to a fifth set we’d be okay, but unfortunately we just never got there," said coach Grant Wilson.
Sam Tuivai added 13 kills for the BU men’s team, who play the Thompson Rivers WolfPack on Saturday night in their final match of the season for a conference bronze medal.
