Manitoba’s COVID-19 total has increased to 1,096 as 32 new cases have been identified.
Of the new cases; 18 are in the Prairie Mountain Health region, seven in the Winnipeg Health region, and six in the Southern Health region.
Health officials say the number of active cases now sit at 418, with 134 in Brandon. Five people are in the hospital including one in intensive care. The number of deaths due to the virus remains at 14, 664 people have recovered.
Meanwhile the province says initial investigations show that 14 of the cases announced today are close contacts of previously-announced cases. Additional case investigations are continuing and information will be updated when available.
Public health officials continue to stress the importance of returning to the fundamentals to help stop the spread of COVID-19. This means not going out while you feel ill, practicing proper hand hygiene, covering your cough and physical distancing when you are with people outside your household. If you can’t physical distance, wear a mask.
