Brandon police made numerous arrests on Thursday

Arrests were made in an alleged assault of a 7-year-old boy, and a reported attack on a building manager

On March 30, 2023 shortly before midnight, Brandon police conducted a vehicle stop in the 400 block of 10th Street. Police say the 36-year-old male driver showed signs of impairment and was arrested. He then provided samples of his breath that were more than twice the legal limit. He was later released to a sober friend and will appear in court on April 6, 2023 on charges of Driving While Ability Impaired and Driving with More than 80 mgs of Alcohol in Blood.

On January 9, 2023, police received a report of an assault, which occurred at a residence on January 3, 2023 in which a 37-year-old male allegedly assaulted a 7-year-old male child with a two-pound dumbbell. The child sustained minor injuries. Following an investigation and consultation with Manitoba Prosecution Services, the 37-year-old male suspect was arrested. He was later released and will appear in court on May 29, 2023 on a charge of Assault with a Weapon.

On March 30, 2023, at approximately 8:30 am, Brandon police responded to a report of a break and enter to a business storage shed in the 1500 block of 18th Street. The suspect reportedly stole empty beer bottles, and placed them into a shopping cart. Police located a 28-year-old suspect a few blocks away and arrested him. He was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for Fail to Comply with Probation Order. He was later released to appear in court on May 29, 2023 with a new charge of Break Enter and Commit Theft Under.

On March 30, 2023, shortly after noon, police responded to a report of an assault in an apartment building. Investigation revealed that the building manager became concerned after smelling smoke, so they entered an apartment where they discovered a recently burned couch. The tenant of the apartment became angry with the manager and allegedly choked them. The manager did not require medical attention. A 46-year-old male suspect was arrested and later released to appear in court on June 12, 2023 on a charge of Assault by Choking.

On March 30, 2023, Brandon police received a report of a suspect who allegedy caused damage to a wall in a business in the 600 block of 18th Street by kicking the drywall. The incident reportedly occurred on March 26, 2023 and was captured in security footage. Police were able to identify a 42-year-old male suspect. He was located and arrested on March 30, 2023.  He was released to appear in court in May.

On March 22, 2023, police received a report of the theft of mail from a business in the 400 block of 9th Street. Security footage from the theft assisted police in identifying a 36-year-old female suspect.  On March 30, 2023, she was located and arrested. She was released to appear in court on May 17, 2023 on a charge of Theft of Mail.

On March 30, 2023, shortly before 2:00 pm, Brandon police responded to a report of a male in an apartment in the 400 block of 10th Street. Police say the new tenant was in the process of moving in when they discovered the male inside. He fled, but police located and arrested him nearby. A 29-year-old male suspect was later released to appear in court on a charge of Unlawfully in a Dwelling.

On March 31, 2023 at approximately 3:30 am, police responded to a report of an alarm at a business in the 3500 block of Victoria Avenue. When police arrived, they found that a window had been broken. On March 31, 2023 shortly after midnight, Brandon police responded to a report of an intoxicated female causing problems outside a residence, and the homeowner wanted her removed.  A 26-year-old female was arrested and lodged at Brandon Police Service until sober to prevent further issues.

On March 31, 2023 shortly after midnight, police responded to a report of an intoxicated male attempting to fight with employees at a business in the 800 block of Pacific Avenue. A 32-year-old male was arrested and lodged at Brandon Police Service until sober.

On March 30, 2023, shortly after 5:00 pm, Brandon police responded to a report of an intoxicated male laying on the ground in the 300 block of Louise Avenue. A 42-year-old male was reportedly in no condition to care for himself, and there was no one to turn him over to.  He was lodged at Brandon Police Service until sober.

On March 30, 2023, shortly after 8:00 pm, police responded to a report of an intoxicated male in a business vestibule in the 1000 block of Rosser Avenue. Police located a 41-year-old male, who officers say was too intoxicated to care for himself, and there was no one to turn him over to. He was lodged at Brandon Police Service until sober.

On March 30, 2023 shortly before 7:00 pm, Brandon police came across two pedestrians in the 1800 block of McTavish Avenue. They say one of the individuals, a 39-year-old male, was to have no communication with the other individual.  He was arrested and lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear in court today on charges of Fail to Comply with Release Order.

On March 30, 2023 shortly before 9:00 pm, police responded to a request to check on the wellbeing of a female, as it was believed a male who was to have no communication with her may be at her home.  When police arrived at the home, a 44-year-old man was communicating with the female contrary to his Probation Order. He was arrested and lodged at Brandon Police Service due to his intoxication, and will be released once sober to appear in court on April 29, 2023.

Arrest Warrants:

On March 31, 2023, a 41-year-old female attended to Brandon Police Service to turn herself in on outstanding charges of Fail to Attend.  She was later released to appear in court on May 25, 2023.

On March 30, 2023, police located and arrested a 23-year-old female who was wanted on outstanding charges of Fail to Attend Court and Fail to Comply with Probation. As she was intoxicated, she was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will be released once sober to appear on court on a later date.
